A mechanical watch is a small engine on your wrist. Like any engine, it benefits from regular use and occasional care.
Daily winding
If you wear your watch daily, the natural movement of your wrist keeps it wound. If you rotate between watches, a watch winder can keep idle pieces running. Either way, a mechanical movement should never be left fully stopped for extended periods.
Service intervals
We recommend a service every four to five years. During a service, the movement is disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled. It's the mechanical equivalent of an oil change — unglamorous but essential.

Water resistance
Water resistance ratings are measured under static conditions. Real-world water exposure — swimming, showering, hot tubs — puts different stresses on seals. Rinse your watch with fresh water after saltwater exposure, and have the seals checked annually if you swim regularly.
